The Top 6 Movies About Wall Street

Margin Call gives great insight into the early days of the financial crisis as an investment bank realises the trouble it is in, in due to its holdings in sub-prime mortgage backed securities, and tries to prevent its downfall. Starring Kevin Spacey, Demi Moore, Zachary Quinto, Jeremy Irons and Simon Baker.

Wolf of Wall Street

Wolf of Wall Street, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill, is based on the true story of Jordan Belfort. From his rise to a wealthy stockbroker living the high life to his downfall due to his criminal activities. A cinematic masterpiece directed by Martin Scorsese.

Rogue Trader

Rogue Trader tells the true story of Nick Leeson who caused the bankruptcy of Britain’s oldest Bank, Barings Bank, due to his high risk trading and subsequent covering up of his losses while working on the Trading Floor on the Singapore exchange. Starring Ewan McGregor and Anna Friel.

Wall Street 1 & 2

Wall Street, the classic when it comes to films about banking and its sequel. In both films Michael Douglas shines with a stellar performance. Two must see films whether you are interested in the subject or not.

Boiler Room

In my view the best one out of the six. Boiler Room tells the story of a college drop out who joins a brokerage firm as a trainee, quickly moving up the ranks and living the good life, until he realises that the firms practices are not legal. A great line up of actors including Ben Affleck, Vin Diesel, Giovanni Ribisi and Nia Long.
